Pier-Tech now produces a heavy-duty portable telescope pier that’s perfect for star parties and observatories alike. The Tri-Pier 2 ($2,500) is an electronically adjustable, anodized aluminum folding tripod pier that has a height range of 28 to 58 inches, for comfortable observing by both children and adults. The Tri-Pier 2 can lift more than 500 pounds (225 kilograms), reducing the chance of an accident by allowing you to load your heavy scope at a comfortable height before simply pushing a button to raise it to your preferred viewing position. Each unit comes with a 24-volt rechargeable battery, bull’s-eye bubble level, carry handle, and custom-machined mounting plate adaptable to any telescope mount.
