Description:

The big active region 2553 that seems like its going almost unnoticed despite its size, imaged this morning in excellent seeing conditions. The granulation of the star photosphere is easily noticeable, along the filaments that extend from the inner darker core region, with a particular one that almost cut through. The core is two Earths big as of today, and the whole penumbra region extends for about 4 times our planet!
