Description:

The open cluster NGC 1342 is found in the constellation Perseus. The cluster is estimated to be 400 million years old and about 1,700 light years away. As seen in the image, dust clouds are prevalent in the area. To the upper left in the image is the blue reflection nebula VdB 18. The image is a total of 1 hour 45 min exposure.
