Description:

Magnitude 18 comet 338P McNaught is passing 3 NGC galaxies. NGC 7592 is actually composed of 3 merging galaxies (lower right inset), note the faint arms below galaxy C and to the right of galaxy A. The upper left inset shows 40 minutes in the life of the comet. As usual, it is hard to bring out the details of the galaxies and faint moving comet in the same image.
