Description:

In this GIF Comet 64P/Swift-Gehrels is magnitude 18.5 and 121 million miles from Earth. Comet 64p will make its close approach to Earth October 28 when it will be 41 million miles from Earth at a predicted magnitude of 10. 64P will reach perihelion in its 9.41 year orbit November 3 when it will be 129 million miles from the Sun. Comet 64P will only be 4.5 degrees from the center of the background Andromeda Galaxy M31 during the week of it's close appraoch to Earth.
