Description:

In this image Comet C/2018 V1 Machholz-Fujikawa-Iwamoto is about magnitude 7 and 71 million miles from Earth. It will be lost in the morning twilight November 28 and reappear in the evening twilight November 30 from Denver. It has a long thin Ion Tail above the coma and to the left and a very short wide Dust Tail above the coma. The comet will reach perihelion on December 3 when it will be only 36 million miles from the Sun, it should reach magnitude 5 at this time but may be lost in the evening twilight. The comet makes its close approach to Earth on November 27 when it will be 62 million miles from the Earth.
