Description:

This bright reflection nebula, which is located about 420 light years away, was formed when several bright stars became entangled with a dark cloud of dust. The cloud is a star-forming region, with clusters of young stars embedded inside, and consists of three nebulous regions – NGC 6726, NGC 6727, and NGC 6729. The magnificent globular star cluster NGC 6723 is in the lower corner of the view. Although NGC 6723 appears to be part of the group, it is nearly 30,000 light years away, far beyond the Corona Australis dust clouds.
