Description:
Located in the constellation Cepheus, IC 1396 and the Elephant Trunk Nebula is located ~2,700 light-years from Earth. This nebula displays sinuous clouds of gas and dust that are silhouetted against the glowing hydrogen gas of emission nebula IC 1396. To help image the emission nebula I use a modified camera which is sensitive to the wavelength of light emitted by the ionized hydrogen.
