Description:
The Whirlpool Galaxy is a spiral galaxy that is relatively close to Earth – about 30 million light-years away. It contains about 100 billion stars. M51 has radius of 30,000 light years. Final image of this galaxy was created by combining 80 3-minute exposures in the process called stacking.
