Canon Rebel XTi with a 135mm Nikkor lens @ f/2.8 - 4, and a 4 minute exposure at ISO 800. Editing done in Canon Zoombrowzer with additional digital darkroom by Sean Walker.

Description:

I had seen a couple of amazing images of 17P/Holmes approaching NGC 1499 elsewhere on the web, and went out the first available clear night to capture the action. On the evenings of march 7th and 8th, comet 17P/Holmes will pass just "offshore" of "San Francisco!"
