Description:

Over the past several years The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) has developed a plan for the purchase and operation of a robotic telescope. The benefits of the telescope would be found in various areas of science, education and outreach. In May 2018, RASC signed on with the Sierra Remote Observatories (SRO) for the installation of a robotic telescope. Coincidently on December 1st, 2018 The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada celebrated its 150th anniversary. The new telescope is a 150th birthday present. The attached image of NGC281 is a narrowband exposure done in Ha, SII and OIII filters and recently taken with the new RASC robotic telescope with processing by Daniel Meek. We look forward to many years of sharing these results with both young and old through our outreach and education programs.
