The Orion Nebula, M42, is a diffuse nebula situated in the Milky Way galaxy, just south of Orion's Belt. It is one of the brightest and most photographed nebulae and is visible to the naked eye. M42 nebula is located 1,344 light years from Earth, is estimated to be 24 light years across, and has a mass of about 2000 times the mass of the Sun.
